CHRomatic Line Sensor CLS 2.0: Ultra-precise quality control in critical cycle time production environments

As semiconductor wafers and microelectronic components become smaller and more complex, greater demands are placed on quality inspection systems.
Precitec’s new chromatic confocal line sensor CHRocodile CLS 2.0 scans at up to 18,300 lines/sec – ideal for time-critical inline inspection, e.g. measuring complex geometries like the tiny wire bonding connecting chips to packages – without shadowing effects.
Easily exchangeable optical probes meet all application requirements, e.g. line lengths of up to 12 mm for fast inspection of large parts or shorter lines (numerical aperture >0.77) for highly angled surfaces, e.g. measuring small wafer bumps or the steeply sloped edges of silicon wafers.

Ultraprecision machining of high precision components/devices in an industrial scale: machines, systems and future perspectives

This presentation will provide a critical review on the fundamentals and key enabling technologies for ultraprecision machining of high precision components and devices, which covers ultraprecision machines, tooling, machining processes, in-process monitoring and measurement, and their seamless integration for forming ultraprecison manufacturing systems. Furthermore, design and development of ultraprecision manufacturing systems will be discussed and explored against some industrial applications, including those for varifocal lenses, ICT hardware and attomotive engine components. The presentation is concluded with a further discussion on the potential and application of the proposed approach and systems in broad precision engineering industry.

Fabriek van de Toekomst: het is van het grootste belang nu bewegen om met elkaar te zorgen voorop te blijven lopen

De maak-industrie wordt geconfronteerd met ongekende veranderingen; Internationale concurrentie, digitalisering en keten integratie. Al deze factoren hebben een grote impact op maak industrie in Nederland. Dat heeft niet alleen invloed op de wijze waarop ze producten maken, maar raakt alle aspecten van het bedrijfsproces; hun expertise, de aansturing van het bedrijf en innovatiekracht. Hoe kan de Nederlandse maak industrie zich voorbereiden op de toekomst?

Door het delen van productiecapaciteit, expertise en knowhow probeert de fabriek van de toekomst bedrijven te helpen. Welke veranderingen komen er op ons af? Hoe maken en houden we met elkaar de verspanende industrie competitief? Welke veranderingen zijn absoluut noodzakelijk om te begrijpen? De NEVAT ligt haar visie toe op de fabriek van de toekomst. Daarna zal een panel van experts van verschillende organisaties (Namen kunnen nog niet worden vrijgegeven: We hebben Eriks/ toonaangevende leverancier en onderdeel SHV Groep alvast vastgelegd om haar verhaal te vertellen over een belangrijke aanjager in de keten: ASML.) ingaan op de vraag: wat is de wenselijkheid, haalbaarheid en levensvatbaarheid van deze visie.

Hoe hanteer je 2MW aan energie in een object ter grootte van een luciferdoosje?

Het Mo-99/Tc-99m-systeem is de meest gebruikte medische radio-isotoop ter wereld met jaarlijks tientallen miljoenen diagnostische procedures. Helaas is de huidige productiemethode gebaseerd op uraniumsplijting wat veel kernafval oplevert.
Binnen het SMART-project ontwikkelt IRE een nieuwe productiefaciliteit voor Mo-99 die berust op het bestralen van molybdeen 100 met hoogenergetische elektronen, zonder gebruik van kernreactor. Demcon ontwikkelt het hart van deze grensverleggende fabriek: de molybdeen bestralingsmodule – waarbij extreem veel energie vrijkomt, en de oogstmachine – waar het geactiveerde Mo-99 wordt gewonnen.

Photonic component assembly systems suitable for every business case

The cost of photonic components is dominated by assembly and packaging processes. This is a drag on adoption at a time when rapid global scaling of connectivity is required. To break this chicken and the egg problem, a fast, flexible, accurate and cost-effective solution for automated photonic-component assembly has been needed. TEGEMA-Etteplan has developed a configurable machine platform focusing on the assembly of photonic devices, which shows in its potential a roughly ten times higher throughput than with currently available solutions. The already proven industrial micro-robotic solutions from PI form the heart of this scalable automated photonics assembly platform, where modules are added for further automation of the required assembly steps.

High dynamic laser beam focussing linear actuator

For focussing laser beams in todays industrial proceses, the precise and fast positioning of lenses is essential. To increase performance of laser based applications, it is neccessary to increase the size of the focussing lenses as well as the range of motion. This leads to increased requirements for lens shifting actuators in terms of maximum accelleration and force. In order to meet these challenges, we would like to introduce our new high dynamic linear actuator. It is designed for high precission lens movement with ± 2.5µm positioning accuracy. The minimum movement time is 10ms for 4mm range of movement. This is achieved by improving a voicecoil actuator with a high magnetic flux density Halbach Array and reducing the moving mass and the eddy currents induced into the coil carrier by Simulation based desing optimisation.

Challenges in miniaturisation of linear motion

Machines and instruments are continuously downsized as they need more functionality and output. Downsizing while maintaining performance is a tough challenge for product developers and engineers. For the precision industry, these challenges are more difficult as the tolerances are much tighter and load capacity and durability need to be maintained. PM will tell what challenges they faced by the development of the new range miniature slides MSR and how they solved them.

Maatwerk oplossingen voor nauwkeurige meetvraagstukken met Kit encoders

De vraag naar hoogwaardige, compacte systemen, waarmee nauwkeurig snelheid en positie gemeten kan worden is de laatste jaren alleen maar toegenomen. Optische en magnetische maatwerk kit encoders geven antwoord op deze vraag. De kit encoders kunnen op maat gemaakt worden in bijna elk gewenste vorm of uitvoering; omdat ze “shaftless”, “bearingless” en “frameless” uitgevoerd kunnen worden. Hetgeen resulteert in een meetsysteem zonder bewegende delen, en daarmee vrij van slijtage. De kit encoders kunnen zowel incrementeel als absoluut, met zeer hoge puls/code aantallen uitgevoerd worden.

Control of Total Cost of Ownership, using MFC’s fit for purpose

MFC’s, Mass Flow Controllers, are flow devices for gas flow measurement. These instruments are measuring gas mass flow. With an integral flow control valve, these instruments can regulate the flow, following a setpoint. This setpoint can be entered manually, or via analog or serial input signal coming from a computer, PLC or some other controller.
The presentation is covering the use of 3 flow measuring techniques in these MFC (or actually 2 with an interesting variation in the sensor), and explain the technological features and benefits of each of them, like f.i. applicability, accuracy, reliability and the Total Cost of Ownership.

Pushing the Boundaries of Edge AI: Embrace the “Umwelt”

The Umwelt theory states that because the mind and body are inseparable, the world around us is defined by what we can sense. This means that our reality, our “umwelt”, is actually just a tiny slice of objective reality. What it, for example, you could sense Wi-Fi signals? Or see in infrared? Or “feel” the movement of the stock market?
What does this have to do with AI? It means that with an AI model, we are the ones who create the world it perceives. We can limit the world by limiting inputs, or we can push the boundaries by expanding the umwelt far beyond what humans can perceive.

In practice, our research is focused on using diverse sensor arrays combined with edge devices to create an expansive umwelt that can fully monitor a manufacturing process. By using many different types of input we are working to monitor every aspect of a process. We then use edge AI to determine if there is a risk of process failure, far ahead of any normal process monitoring techniques. Come join us as we show you the progress made so far, where our roadmap is leading us, and what this means for manufacturing innovation.

Calibration results of a ultra-sensitive RGA test setup

To serve the increasing cleanliness demands of our customers, the Cleanliness Competence Team of NTS has developed an ultra-sensitive RGA test setup. This system has some unique features:
• Bake out up to 300°C for very low background enabled by using CF-flanges.
• Utilization of the total dynamic range of the mass spectrometer, by optimizing the vacuum level with an in-vacuum adjustable diaphragm to squeeze the pump speed.
• A calibrated leak to measure the pump speed of each diaphragm position.

The results of these calibrations demonstrate the sensitivity of the setup.
