So far, product development has taken place in predefined steps respecting traditional department boarders and responsibilities. To cope with strong global competition and shortened time to market, machine shops need to find new ways to increase efficiency and to utilize the existing machines and tools best. A virtual approach, to validate geometries early, involving many stakeholders from start on and learning from the resulting quality (metrology) of the finished goods, can support companies to gain ground in this challenging environment.
